Dr. Edgar R. Rivera
Dr. Edgar R. Rivera, alumnus of Parker University College of Chiropractic since December 2008, aspired to open a clinic in an interprofessional multidisciplinary environment. He successfully opened his first clinic at the Pepino Health Group Health Center and Urgent Care "Centro de Salud de San Sebastián" in May 2010, joining his former wife, Dra. Mayda N. Serrano. Between 2010 and 2013, chiropractic experienced sudden success, benefiting not only the chiropractic clinic but also the entire health center. The doctors provided volunteer consultations from the emergency room and to other doctors in the health center. Dr. Rivera's first patient was the late Dr. David Garcia, M.D., who sought improvement after suffering a cerebellar stroke. In 2014, Dr. Joseph Redondo approached the chiropractic community to participate in a healthcare outreach program at Hospital Castañer in the town of Lares, and Dr. Rivera volunteered to do so. That year, Dr. Rivera became a staff doctor at Hospital Castañer, where he treated new patients and co-managed patients with the rest of the staff in an interprofessional environment. Present about the Interprofessional Environment to the group of Hospitals 330, addressing presidents and medical directors, which opened doors to the chiropractic community in Puerto Rico. 2. These presentations were part of the 2015 congress in Puerto Rico, presented through a collaboration of the Association for the History of Chiropractic and the Puerto Rico Chiropractic Association. Between 2015 and 2016, Dr. Rivera opened a second clinic at Lares Hospital and Urgent Care (Centro de Salud Integral de Lares). He also served as the Chiropractor for the town's Volleyball Team seasons 2014 and 2015 and assisted Dr. Mayda Serrano with the volleyball team from the town of San Sebastian. Between 2015 and 2021, Dr. Rivera dedicated his time to treating patients and writing articles for local magazines, leading to the publication of his first book on Amazon, "Quiropráctica," as part of the series "Mejorando Mi Calidad de Vida" (Improving my Quality of Life).
